I have fallen in love with a tea recipe that is phenomenal for hydration, digestion, blood sugar handling...and the taste buds! This combination was crafted by a friend, and I frequently reproduce it for my own enjoyment and for guests.
Lemon is a great aid to our digestion. It not only stimulates the release of gastric juices but also supports healthy liver function.  It’s high vitamin C concentration helps regulate of blood sugar levels. Also, due its electrolyte content, lemon equips our bodies to absorb water more efficiently.
Ginger is the spicy root that improves gastric motility (how our food moves through our digestive systems), and thus prevents indigestion and ulcers.  It has also been used to effectively improve blood sugar levels when fasting or for long-term maintenance. 
Cinnamon may lower blood sugar levels and improve insulin sensitivity. Insulin is the hormone which helps transport sugar from the bloodstream to the tissues to keep blood sugar levels balanced.  It has also been used for diabetics to slow the absorption of sugar in the bloodstream after a meal. 
Water, of course, is our vital macronutrient that supports hydration! It also plays a major role in digestion. When we are dehydrated our mucous is more viscous. This makes it harder for our digestive juices to be released and function optimally.

¼ of a lemon
2 1”-slices of fresh ginger, peeled
3 3”-cinnamon sticks
4 cups of water
Combine cinnamon sticks, ginger and lemon in a pot with the water. Bring to a boil. Simmer on low for 10 minutes. Serve hot.
